The Chillow is a cooling pad for your pillow that will keep your head warm while you sleep, even while the room is hot. It operates due to natural water-based technology, so no batteries or electricity are required for its use. The Chillow is also made of non-toxic, latex-free, hypoallergenic material. This product is especially useful for those suffering from headaaches, muscle aches, sunburns, night sweats, and insect bites.

How It Works

The Chillow is made of memory foam that you must fill only once with water. As you use it, the water constantly circulates through it, absorbing and releasing heat from your body into the air, so that you are able to stay cool for hours. Not a single source of outside power is required for this process, nor is refrigeration of the product ever required. The cushioned outside of the Chillow is made of micro suede and is slip-proof, so your head won’t easily move around on the pad as you sleep. Aside from resting your head on it, you can also use the Chillow as a cushion underneath a sore back, or to cradle aching feet. Depending on how you position it, it offers four different levels of coolness that you can choose from based on your specific needs.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Fill With Water
  2. Before you use the Chillow for the first time, fill it up with water ( don't use hot water ) and reseal the edges, which have been designed with a vacuum seal.

  3. Pick A Setting
  4. When using the product, you can pick from four levels of coolness. On the 'Cool' setting, you'll use it with the cloth side up, and feel as if your head is resting on velvet or soft leather. To make the Chillow even cooler, you can turn it over so it's shiny-side up, and slip it inside a pillowcase. If you'd like an even cooler temperature than that, just leave it outside the pillowcase and directly rest your head on it. For the coolest temperature possible, leave it outside the pillowcase but refrigerate it for 15 to 30 minutes before using it.

  5. Store
  6. When you're not using the Chillow, store it in a cool place that won't subject it to direct sunlight or heat. However, you must not freeze it, either.

  7. Empty Air And Clean
  8. Once a month, unseal the Chillow to let excess air out ( but don't empty the water ). If you often place it directly against your skin, you should clean it at least once a month. Without regular cleaning, a buildup of skin oils may harden the Chillow's surface. To clean it effectively, just wipe it gently with a damp cloth and a mild hand or dish soap.

Positive Points

  • Leak-proof
  • Unlike some ice packs, the Chillow will normally not leak while you use it, due to the fact that its edges are vacuum-sealed. It will only leak if it gets a hole in it due to being punctured by a sharp object.

  • Not Freezing
  • The Chillow will always stay at a comfortable temperature that is cooler than your body temperature, but it will never start to feel like an ice cube, making you shiver. During the night, it will stay almost 10 percent cooler than a standard down pillow, but will become no colder.

Negative Points

  • Limited Outdoor Use
  • You can only effectively use the Chillow for about an hour outdoors before the sun causes it to heat up too much. A thin cloth must also be placed over it when you're using it outside to protect it from the sun's damage. After about an hour, you must bring the product inside to recharge it at room temperature. Alternatively, you can stick it in the refrigerator for 15 to 30 minutes to get it ready for use again.

  • Needs Exposure To Air
  • Even when you’re using the Chillow by placing it underneath a cloth or inside a pillowcase, part of it must always be exposed to the air so it can release excess heat into said air. Therefore, you cannot place it in a completely sealed bag or container and expect it to work properly.

  • Keep Pets Away
  • Although the Chillow might seem like it would be comfortable for cats, dogs or other pets to sleep on, their claws may puncture it. You must keep them away from your Chillow if you want it to have a long life.
